I'M 11 YEARS OLD AND I'M BUYING ONE OF THE FIRST PRESSINGS OF LED ZEPPELIN'S "BONZO'S BIRTHDAY PARTY" (includes vinyl rip)

STOP 005 RETURN TO RECORD PARADISE

Boy, was I lucky to have grown up in Hollywood and wandered into this place at such a young age. My patronage to the store would go from '73 to '76, when they were eventually busted. Bonzo's Birthday Party was literally the second boot I bought there, the older lady that worked the counter that whole time period was so sweet. The store was seriously connected to the TMOQ folk and other bootleggers which made shopping there that more fun.

I took this Led Zeppelin record to boarding school in upstate New York and would crank it - all the kids would ask me where I got it. That year when I got back for Christmas break, my mom went to the store with me. When I brought up about five or six boots, right in front of my mom, the sweet lady behind the counter took several of them and went "here, on the house, we always love having your son in here."

Yep, it was a special store.

Hear a vinyl rip of this exact copy, still in mint condition, HERE. Other tapes and versions surfaced thru the decades but this is the original!

TIMOTHY CHALAMET WORKS WITH JUST ONE SAFDIE BROTHER AND THEY'RE BOTH IN A LITTLE OVER THEIR HEADS IN PING-PONG DRAMA "MARTY SURPREME" (2025) my first movie review since returning as Tommy-Land

 STOP 003

In the first film he's directed without his brother Benny, Josh Safdie grabs Timothy Chalamet for this ping-pong sports drama not lacking in self-indulgence straight across the board. A sort-of character study film (had it decided completely on that route) that would find itself wedged in with The Swimmer, The Conversation & The Gambler (s) of this world. However, whereas those films mostly gave us a reason for their protagonist's behavior, in Marty Surpreme we never really know why he is like he is. We just know he's a selfish asshole.

Now to Gweneth Paltrow, an excellent actress and beautiful woman - back in her film glory days. Sorry to say she's lost some of her chops in both departments. Had much higher hopes for this one overall - besides said complaints, the plot meanders too much, is it a biopic (no,) is it a sports comedy (no again,)
One of the best things about the movie is the soundtrack and music placement. It's also the only part that feels most like Uncut Gems or Good Time. 3.5 stars/5 Trailer.

DID HALL & OATES REALLY CLIMB INSIDE THE TOP OF THE CHRYSLER BUILDING WAY BACK IN 10,000 B.C.? (graphic novel)

 STOP 002 CHRYSLER CROWN MANIA

I guess it all started with the movie "Q - The Winged Serpent." The stunning photography Larry Cohen captured inside the top of the Chrysler Building (the famed B-movie director approached the building's management six times before being granted permission) mixed with my fasciation of urban exploration and really moved me.

Then came the now notorious video shot by Moses Gunn and Opie Radio circa 2012 where they climb to the top crawlspace just under the needle. Recently, Opie disclosed on his program that it was the wildest thing he'd ever done on his long-running show and that they had accessed the restricted area via a dentist who had an office on the 71st floor.

It's been fun incorporating this unique piece of inner architecture into my art; submitted for your approval - one graphic novel starring none other than recently separated Hall & Oates, placed in the time period of the Flintstones. (Approx 40 pgs, 10-min read)

The dialog is based on a spec script I wrote....enjoy!   https://canva.link/pcm2fw24tatpnky
